Capelli Lounge Hair Salon

Capelli Haircutting of Westwood opened its doors in the Westwood Village back in 1982 by former owner Salvatore Bondi. Laurie and Veronica started working for Sal and became instant friends. In May of 2006 Sal decided to move back to Pittsburgh and sold the salon to Laurie and Veronica, who reinvented the location into Capelli Lounge.

"The salon needed a makeover. It was a mix of Southwestern meets Italian. We ended up completely redoing the entire salon." Veronica said. "We put a lot of ourselves into the remodeling and design. We practically did most of the work." Before buying the salon Laurie and Veronica became very good friends and even lived together. Both of them were new to the world of hairdressing and felt at home at Capelli. "Sal was great, it was like we were a family. We all hung out around the Village."

Laurie, a native of Los Angeles. Before working at Capelli Laurie worked as an assistant and then as a stylist at a large salon in Beverly Hills, "It was crazy, there was probably 80 stylists, it was hard to tell who was a stylist and who was a client. I knew I wanted to work at a smaller salon. This place was the perfect fit." Now, as a co-owner of Capelli Lounge she is able to have a flexible schedule so she can spend time with her two young children in Mar Vista.

Veronica is from Glasgow, Scotland. "Hair styling has always been a passion of mine." Veronica trained in Glasgow and worked as junior styling moving to London. "I loved the London fashion scene, it was a great learning experience and helped refine my skills."

After a couple of years in London she made the jump to the states with a close friend. "I always loved the laid back feel of California, we traveled all over the West Coast before I settled down in Los Angeles."

Many of their clients have been coming for over 20 years, which is a feat in itself. Capelli offers new client and UCLA discounts. The service is wonderful and attentive. The staff is friendly, professional and fun. The salon gives you a very intimate and relaxed atmosphere as well. If you are looking to go to a place with a great stylist, call Capelli Lounge.

To book an appointment at Capelli Lounge by calling their friendly receptionist Armando or send them an email upstairs@capellilounge.com. The salon is located around the corner of The Coffee Bean on Gayley and Weyburn. The salon location is upstairs which is an enjoyable place to be off the traffic in Westwood.
